How to build a procurement strategy affordable and effective for defense programs
The United State Department of defense agreements with most military contracts. Their goal is to deliver equipment and quality services to their armies, while ensuring that they remain good stewards of taxpayers' money. In light of the attention the federal deficit and the fact that the costs must be cut, recruitment programs, effective and affordable defense has become more important.
Defense markets has always cost the government much money, with many programs running in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Sometimes these programs are not even generate the kinds of results that were expected, which makes them very expensive experience that is always a chance to fail. Now with the economy being close to a second recession and expenses are reduced, it is time for DoD to ensure that their programs are both viable and profitable.
Supply DoD needs to change and change quickly. They must ensure that all defense programs can produce results quickly and efficiently. It is not efficient to have a missile defense program that costs $ 2 billion, but can produce results fifteen or twenty years in the future, and is just as likely to fail. The DPAP, the branch of the DoD is responsible for communicating and procurement policies, aims to achieve excellence through acquisition of good leadership and integrity. This can be realized if the contracts are selected right based on what positives they bring to the army, as opposed to the selection of the more expensive.
Many times, the supply of the DoD focuses on projects large sums of money that steal the show and show the power of the army of the United States. It's fine, but with countries in need to balance budgets, good policy would be to have only DoD contracts that are necessary, legitimate, and will provide immediate benefits for the military. Signature of another arms deal when the army has a lot of weapons and missiles is a mistake. It may be more important to focus on other areas where the army is absent.
A major concern for the United States is the amount of money that was paid to contractors and subcontractors in Afghanistan and Iraq. Almost $ 20 billion defense contract money purchase was paid during the year, and very few returns were observed. While it is easier to pay the subcontractors who will do the job at the local level, these bodies should prove to the government that it might be better to give these contracts to U.S. companies that can be trusted to make good work, or at least not take government money if they know the work can be done.
The U.S. military is a steward of the money from their taxpayers, their mission statement suggests, and they must use this money carefully.
